THE BEST TOURIST PLACES TO VISIT IN BARCELONA in 5 days
This post is prepared to show you the best places to visit in the Catalan capital. If you stay a few days, it’s more than perfect and don’t worry because there will always be something new to see or do.
Day 1: Explore the Gothic Quarter and La Rambla
The first day will start in the Gothic Quarter, one of the oldest and most picturesque places in Barcelona. You can start your exploration at Plaza Cataluña and walk along La Rambla, an avenue full of stores, cafes, and street artists. At the southern end of La Rambla is the Cristóbal Colón monument, which offers spectacular views of Barcelona’s harbor. Then, we will enter the streets of the Barrio Gótico where we will find historic buildings, narrow streets, and many picturesque squares.
Day 2: Visit the Sagrada Familia and Park Güell
For the second day, we will visit La Sagrada Familia, a masterpiece by architect Antoni Gaudi that has become the most famous symbol of Barcelona. It is one of the most visited places in the city, so we recommend you book your tickets in advance. Afterward, you can go to Parque Güell, another place designed by Gaudí that offers breathtaking views of the city. Strolling through the gardens and admiring the park’s architecture, which combines natural and artificial elements, is what makes Park Güell special and a must-see when visiting Barcelona.
Day 3: Discover art and history in Montjuïc.
On the third day of the trip in Barcelona, we will visit Montjuïc, a hill located south of the city center. You can reach it by cable car or funicular or walk to the top. Once there, you can visit the Castillo de Montjuïc, which offers spectacular views of the city. You can also visit the Museo Nacional de Arte de Cataluña, which has an impressive collection of Romanesque and Gothic art, or the Poble Espanyol, an open-air museum featuring replicas of buildings from all over Spain.
Day 4: Relax on the beach and discover modernist architecture.
Barcelona is famous for its beaches, and one of the most popular is the Barceloneta beach. For this fourth day, we will enjoy the sun and sea on the beach or on one of the many terraces in the area. In the afternoon, you can discover the modernist architecture of the city. Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, two buildings designed by Antoni Gaudí, are a must. You can also visit the Hospital de Sant Pau, which is an impressive example of modernist architecture.
Day 5: Explore the Gracia neighborhood and dine at a local restaurant.
For the fifth and final day, we will focus on the Gracia neighborhood, as it is one of the most interesting areas of Barcelona, with a mix of historic and modern architecture. You can stroll through its streets and enjoy the bars, stores, and cafes. You can also visit the Parque de la Creueta del Coll, an urban park with a swimming pool.
